October 2006 Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by the President.

Minutes from the September 12 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurers report was read and approved.

Old Business: The Cherrry Pickers Guide books are in and distribution has started.
Alice discussed the INA show in Des Moines. Most comments were
positive and dealers made money. It was a good show.
Tom discussed the new law on ‘no sales tax on coins, bullion, and paper
currency investments’.
The club is still working on the non-profit status.

No coin finds.

New Business: Our December 10 coin show raffle main prize will be:
1885 $5 Gold piece
plus 7 one oz. Silver Eagle pieces
Raffle tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5. The coin show is a
sellout, we will again have a security person. A sign-up sheet was
passed around for volunteer workers. 10 dozen donuts for the
dealers will be ordered. We as a club will try and get our own
exhibit together.

Upcoming coin shows are : October 21—Ottumwa
October 22—Dubuque
November 4—Keokuk
December 10—Iowa City
Start thinking of items for our May Auction. Dale, Craig & Jim will be
compiling a list of those items.
Upcoming meetings: writing a book on Iowa National Banknotes and
having it published
the December Charity Auction & Food meeting
Barry brought up that a donation was received and a vote was taken to
purchase a book for the club library with the donation money.

Business meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM

Door prize: a 1916 2-feather buffalo nickel
Raffle: 2005 Silver Eagle in a presentation box

Our program for the evening was on Buffalo nickels, 2, 2 1/2, and 3 feather varieties
